Claudelise
From abundance to exuberance
Claudelise did not simply turn to painting. She arrived at it—through a rupture, through a body that said no.
After ten years as an engineer, she left the field of computer science and embarked on an artistic practice born of necessity. Initially focused on sculpture, she has spent more than twenty years developing a body of pictorial work rooted in the experience of gesture and material.
Her painting is constructed within a space of tension between structure and intuition. Principles of composition, rhythms, and chromatic balances act as an embodied memory, allowing improvisation to unfold without apparent constraint.
Working with light, color, and material as fields of transformation, Claudelise shifts form away from representation to make it a sensory experience. Each canvas engages an unstable balance between mastery and abandonment.
Rooted in the realm of lyrical abstraction, her work resonates with certain explorations by Pierre Soulages, Jean-Paul Riopelle, and Willem de Kooning, while asserting a singular style in which form becomes an event.
